Suggested Native Plant List
Larry Vierheilig has prepared a handy 13-page guide to Suggested Native Plants for Coastal San Luis Obispo County and Santa Maria [pdf/13 pages/80k]. It lists each plants common and scientific name, projected size, growing conditions and flowering season grouped by type: perennials for beds and borders, accent plants to 4-feet plus, accent plants to 5-feet plus, ground cover to 3 feet, plants for slopes, deciduous and evergreen trees, and vines.
NNG Flora & Fauna Information Sheets
The links below are to PDF documents briefly describing plants and animals that may be found in the Nipomo Native Garden. We hope that teachers will find them useful in their classrooms and that local homeowners can use them as quick visual guides for plant selection. This list is certainly not complete and will be updated as we identify and describe additional garden inhabitants. Each document is formatted for printing on 8.5" x 11" inkjet printer photo paper, with full color photos and graphics.
