Get Involved
Opportunities abound for individual or group participation in activities that help grow and maintain the Nipomo Native Garden. Whether through volunteering their time and labor or by financial support of one time projects, sustaining operations in the Garden, or through donations. The Nipomo Native Garden is a community based and supported project.
Volunteer
Individuals and groups can volunteer their time and labor during any of our regularly scheduled workdays, typically the 1st Saturday of each month, 9 am to noon at the Garden. In addition to participation during scheduled work days, groups or individuals may participate in more focused efforts.
Community Service
As a community based volunteer organization, we provide opportunities for individuals to complete community service hours, whether for educational or court ordered obligations. Community Service participants are generally restricted to performance during our regularly scheduled 1st Saturday morning of each month, between 9:00am - 12:00pm, while we have observers present.
Adopt-A-Project
Volunteers agree to undertake one-time or sustaining tasks, with more specific goals. Examples include: litter pickup and removal, Poison Oak abatement, invasive weed control, footpath maintenance, bench and kiosk development and maintenance, growing plants from seed and cuttings, and zoned landscape development. The newly installed Demonstration Garden needs extra attention a this time.

Sponsorship
Businesses and Community groups may wish to financially sponsor developments or activities in the Garden. Sponsorship can be in the form of direct financial support, donations of materials, or delivery of services that facilitate development and maintenance of the Garden and its facilities. Current sponsorship needs include: purchasing, building or installation of signage, benches, kiosks, plants.

In the past, the California Department of Fish & Game and the California Coast Conservancy in cooperation with The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation have provided funding through a grant from the Unocal Guadalupe Oil Field spill settlement. This grant is designated for Habitat Restoration and Construction within the Nipomo Native Garden.
